Glibenclamide (INN), also known as glyburide (USAN), is a second-generation sulfonylurea oral hypoglycemic agent used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It acts primarily by stimulating insulin release from the pancreatic beta cells and is one of the most potent and longest-acting drugs in its class.
